Our Heart
Behind every milestone, every new skill, and every meaningful connection is a team of dedicated professionals who show up each day with patience, compassion, and commitment.
Our teachers, paraprofessionals, behavior technicians, therapists, and direct support professionals are the people who turn our mission into action. They celebrate the small victories, navigate the difficult moments, and build the relationships that make progress possible.
They are not simply part of our programs. They are what makes our programs possible.
Michelle Puopolo Co-Founder & Executive Director
Michelle Puopolo co-founded Beyond Autism with her husband in 2014 with a simple but powerful goal: to create a safe, compassionate, and engaging environment where their son—and other children with developmental disabilities—could learn the skills needed to thrive. What began as a deeply personal mission has grown into an organization dedicated to empowering children and supporting families throughout their journey.
An Army veteran and former nurse, Michelle transitioned from healthcare after her son's diagnosis and has spent the past two decades immersed in the autism and developmental disabilities community. Her lived experience as both a parent and leader shapes Beyond Autism's family-centered approach and commitment to individualized support.
As Executive Director, Michelle oversees the organization's strategic vision, program development, and community partnerships. She is passionate about building innovative educational programs that promote school readiness, independence, and meaningful opportunities for every child. Michelle also founded Exceptional Yogis, an adaptive yoga program designed specifically for children with developmental disabilities that is integrated into the daily school experience, supporting self-regulation, body awareness, and overall well-being.
Michelle's mission is to ensure that every child is seen for their potential and that every family feels supported, understood, and empowered.

Tina is passionate about helping children with autism and developmental disabilities build the skills needed to become confident, independent, and effective self-advocates. She believes meaningful progress begins by meeting each learner and family where they are, creating individualized supports that emphasize autonomy, dignity, and compassionate, evidence-based care.

Inspired by the meaningful impact of behavioral intervention, she returned to Arizona State University to earn her Master of Arts in Special Education with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis in 2024.
